About “The 2008 Project: Bellyfatology”

The new Bellyfatology.com is now a project called “The 2008 Project: Bellyfatology.” Sure, unoriginal, but how awesome! This magnificent project is the project I’ve been wishing to dedicate myself to for the past 18 months but have never gotten around to doing until I made it a point to make it a resolution. You see, it was about 2002 when I met my highest weight ever: 240 - 245 pounds (no muscle mass, all fat). I dedicated myself to losing weight, and for the next 8 months, I completely reshaped my body!

I began studying better ways to lose weight, healthier ways to eat, and more thorough ways to gain muscle mass. I practically dedicated myself to the quest of learning the human body and how it can be made into a machine of excellence! However, as time went by, my dedication died. Why? Who knows! I probably got older and busier, less motivated to impress the female gender. (And by this I mean I didn’t care to impress them anymore, not that I was any less attracted to them. I have a lovely girlfriend now, so it should be different.)

So as time went by, my dedication to stay slim fizzled, and I slowly began to gain weight back. Although my desire to remain strong never failed, I rarely did cardiovascular exercise, so I got a little stout. I was still rather muscular, and I still loved learning about bodybuilding, weight loss/gain, and nutrition; however, this was more in the field of weight training and power-lifting than it was in general health or fitness.

So my enjoyment of learning about the human anatomy and it’s engineering continued on, and each of my jobs/hobbies/courses took a more fitness-driven turn.

  • I took a nutrition course at a local college.
  • That same year I also studied anatomy (a three hour long class).
  • I worked at GNC (A vitamin/supplement place).
  • I worked in a Fitness Room.
  • I studied various training techniques. Some of which worked, some of which didn’t.
  • I tried diets (Atkins, Vegan, South Beach, Weight Watchers)
  • I experimented with different supplements from GNC (not steroids - be serious).
  • I read everything I could get my hands on.

All to get fat 2 years later.

How I Got Fat:

As I said a little earlier, I lost my motivation to workout. I really can’t place exactly when it happened or why it happened, all I know is that for no apparent reason, I lost the dedication to take care of my body! I was applying for a school in Florida, and I supposed I was leaving to go down there when I quit my job at the Fitness Room. My motivation dropped so drastically, I quit eating right, lifting weights, and doing any cardiovascular workout all-together.

Did I notice it? Did I ever! The signs were screaming at me, and I didn’t even take any action to stop it! My downfall looked like this:

  1. My muscle definition began to disappear.
  2. My face started getting puffy.
  3. My pants started getting tighter.
  4. Large shirts started feeling smaller.
  5. I began to lose strength and stamina.
  6. I started feeling less energetic. Not tired, no; lethargic.
  7. My breathing became harder when I walked places.
  8. I got sick a lot easier.
  9. My confidence was so low, it was hard to finish projects.
  10. I got headaches easier.
  11. I didn’t sleep as good at night.

It was just bad! And it only got worse.

So I have decided that I’ve had enough. I have allowed myself to get disgusting long enough; and this is my Resolution for each and every day for the 2008 year: to be healthy, to help other become healthy, and to record the process for those who feel as though they’ve been unable to continue one with their success.
